Abstract:
Secure cloud-based medical data analysis requires data aggregation from distributed data sources, thus incurring data privacy concerns. Privacy-preserving genomic data analysis has been shown critical in biomedical therapy. However, it is a challenging task due to the high privacy sensitivity of genomic data and the large size of genomic sequence. Multiple previous works have been pursuing privacy and efficiency in genomic data analysis. In our work, we target at securely search top-k most similar genomic sequences using edit-distance metric aggregated from multiple data owners. Our approach could guarantee privacy of data, query, and access patterns. Approximated solutions are proposed to extensively improve search efficiency while maintaining search result accuracy.
We are facing the spectrum deficiency problem today due to the proliferation of wireless devices. It is always an open problem to enable heterogeneous devices coexisting within the same collision domain. The problem is even harder to tackle for heterogeneous devices running different physical-layer protocols. In our work, we resort to several advanced physical techniques such as wireless MIMO and reconfigurable antennas. We formulate the characteristics brought by these techniques into our model, based on which we analyze the theoretical performance bound and derive the optimal scheduling, beamforming, and reconfigurability solutions in general multi-hop heterogeneous networks.
